What is Spam and how to avoid temptation
Posted by Admin E-Nvía
| Spam has a legal definition, a social and a technical definition, but all conclude in the negative in its connotation. | |
According to Wikipedia "It's called Spam, spam or junk sms to unsolicited messages, usually advertising nature, sent in large quantities (even massive) that damage to one or several ways to the receiver."
Although no legislation that prohibits (Under Article 21 of Spanish Law 34/2002), the most important not to fall into the temptation is to understand its social definition and understand the consequences that cause the abuse.
Any Internet user who receives an email that does not contain any useful information, relevant or funny, and that does not recognize the sender, intuitively assume that it has received a spam, and possibly take action against either suppress or report (marked as spam ) by clicking on your mail service from Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail, etc.
Spam originates due to low costs, and false and misleading belief of his success (and some sell invest cents), the temptation to use is given in entrepreneurs who do not understand that a mail must build a relationship with the Recipient (email reader) and the best thing that can happen is to leave the door open for dialogue.
How to avoid being SPAMMER? (Individuals or companies sending spam)
- Include your contact list only those who are directly or indirectly to your company or business.
- If possible get tacit permission to send your contact information or advertising (Opt-in).
- If you make an arrangement with another company to use the database, make sure there is some complementarity between the two companies and always refer to the company that owns the license of communication.
- Think medium-term success is much more profitable than the risk of an immediate benefit.
- Be sure to comply with the rules of law Anti Spam, and of course respect the decisions of their readers not to continue receiving your emails.
- Do not purchase lists and check emails in your contact list no addresses as abuse @, postmaster @, hostmaster @ (these addresses are often traps to detect spammers.)
E-Nvía helps its customers succeed in their communications, protecting them from falling into category of "Spammer", such as automatically blocking the transmission to contacts who decided to cancel your subscription, and only accept subscription again if the explicitly indicated contact through E-Nvía tool.
Due to the proliferation of spam, all e-mail companies like Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail service using a spam detection and blocking in order to help their clients not to receive unsolicited mail. These services are looking into each email key elements that may arouse suspicion. Please note to avoid being trapped in these services:
- Never send one email with a copy (CC) or blind carbon copy (BCC) recipient chains (with E-Nvía every email, sent e-newsletter is individual and personal)
- Keeping your name (Sender, "From") as short as possible and do not use numbers where possible.
- Use as little as possible the words "Free" "Free" "Sex" "XXX" and excessive punctuation as "$ $" "!!!"
- Avoid using capital letters in the subject line of your email.
- Do not leave many blank lines in your email, bulletin board or newsletter.
- Do not send emails that are only images or contain a gap between text and image.
We recommend using the test included in Spam E-Nvía tool to check (before sending the message) if your e-zine content can be considered spam and blocked by mailers.
Spam is a problem of all who use the Internet. The best way to eradicate it is to reject the temptation to get in touch at any cost and instead use tools that facilitate the management of subscriptions.
The question we must ask before sending a campaign
"I have a degree of certainty that the recipients of my newsletter will have an interest in what I have to offer?"
